Hello,
Yes, MOTD is “message of the day” and the event for tomorrow was announced over there. Unfortunately, we cannot change the color of that message (same SW:TOR lack of inspiration when comes to mass guild communication).
Also, the event is published on site, in the events section.
Looking forward to see you there,
Kara/Amyin reply to: IJO – Promotions #7434Hello everyone 🙂
For being among the first to reach the new lvl 60 and for his involvement into the guild affairs, following also the “R3” suggestions, I hereby promoted Bowman today to the rank of “General” of the Infinite Jedi Order!
May the Force be with you!
Good luck and see you in-game,
Kara/Amyin reply to: "Refresh…" #7432“MOTD”? If that is “message of the day”, that was going to be my suggestion. If at all possible, I would put the
text in red… it’s the only color guaranteed to grab everyone’s attention…I was amazed to see that I was exactly (1) experience point away from hitting 56… until I realized that I
purchased my Xpac on Nov.3 so my XP was being cut off. =( So, I started an Imp Agent, that I like playing, but
after being spoiled by the 12x XP boost… it feels like it’s going to be a very long ride.Everyone in guild has been really cool… Those in charge are expected to be “friendly”, “helpful”, and
“available” (to some degree)… and you guys have been all that and more. But every once in a great while, my
path happens to cross with someone who is worthy of praise, to the point of my being compelled to share what
I’ve seen so others recognize just what kind of an asset this guild has… “Bowman” has done things that go
beyond being a “good guy” or “nice person”. I’m only going to point out a couple of the numerous actions he
has taken in the name of being “helpful”… I’m obviously still learning how to improve my game, so “Bowman”
shared the name of a site where I could find the information I was looking for… Then, immediately tabs out
and relays that information from the site, directly to me. Next he and I were about to run dailies, or an fp,
when he decides to bring that plan to a halt, so we could assist a guildie, who was about level 40. Now,
these sound like “routine” to some of us, but the reason I was impressed enough to bring his actions to
“your” attention, is (A)He wasn’t asked to do what he did… he just did it on both occasions and (B)Both
situations occurred AFTER the new Xpac was activated, and everyone was understandably caught up in the
push to 60… “Good job, Bow” /high-five!in reply to: “3.0” Ding-Dang-Dong – reached 60 #7431Woo congratulations.
in reply to: "Refresh…" #7423Heya,
Very good point and, to be honest, i was fidgeting about when it would be a good time to start scheduling such events (we used to have those in weekend, normally on Saturday and Sunday, around 9 am GMT). As of lately, most people were caught in leveling intensively, and the XP one could get from doing class quests was way better then the one coming from group missions. Today, the new expansion will be released. To be honest, I’m curious about the changes there will come (as the last major expansion, 2.0 – the hutts, reshaped the game entirely). Once we’ll figure out the changes and we’ll know the new shape of the group content, we should start having group events more often. Hopefully, Bioware won’t disturb us again with any new multi-XP periods again, which usually disturbs the group actions.
To meet Plas’s comment as well, that is why I changed the MOTD this weekend, to determine more people to come on teh site, so we would have a common communication platform for planning those events. Indeed, SW:TOR lacks badly in any form of mass communication in-game and without such an external platform, any attempt to plan those events is …. to use an well-known term …. futile 🙂
So, for for the next period we should determine as many people as we can, to sign up to the site.
However, i’ll post in MOTD, probably on Thursday, an announce for the next event for this weekend, for Saturday, that will be related with the new content coming from expansion.
If you have other suggestions about how we can announce and plan those events, please share them with us.
All the best,
Karain reply to: "Refresh…" #7422That’s a great idea R3 and has been on the cards. What I can do straight away if you are willing is give you access to the guild scheduler here on the site and if you’re free on the weekend I can walk u through how to add events etc.
The big social downfall for SWTOR has been the guild system or lack of it. Even the simplest thing like a guild-wide email is not possible. I would love to have the opportunity to talk or message all the member at once and explain or make them aware of guild services, but its just not easy unless I catch people online and speak in the Guild Chat Channel.
We did have a permanent running events schedule at one point and would be great to revive it.
in reply to: Resignation letter #7419I am very upset about this decision but I respect it. I will be posting a public message about this soon, but want to get it right so I will not discuss this further in this thread. Please wait until I do this before posting any tributary post for Ingrid (Alanna, P’andra, Qualeesh).
As for the rest of us we must pull together and look to strengthening what we have accomplished over the last few years. I call upon the remaining GA Committee and new GA members to become more active in the organization and to strengthen ties and I don’t want to use the words ‘take it more seriously’ as it is an organization of friends and players for fun, not a job. But nothing can run well without some form of commitment.
As the Guild Alliance Committee Chairman ‘ve held back from posting about this for a couple of weeks as I have been trying to understand it and I’ve been thinking about how we can best move forward. I am in the process of reviewing and adding recent (over the last year) amendments to the GA Charter after-which we can commence work on new business.
Thank you all. Please indicate that you have read this below.

in reply to: Warm Welcome! #7410I’m really enjoying this game… and the better you become at something, the more enjoyable it is. In my younger
days, I was a national competitor, and I found the best way to advance, is to stay close to those superior to
yourself. I spent a couple hours last night, letting “Zez” and “Bowman” drag me through content. Was all brand
new area to me, so I was feeling a little lost a large portion of the time… but it was a “BLAST!” =D Plus I
was able to significantly upgrade about half my gear. So I just wanted to give a “Special Thanks” to Zez and
Bowman, who both had the patience to stick it out while I was learning, and once again made me feel at home…in reply to: Warm Welcome! #7409Well then “Amy’doll” (the name I relate to), sounds like you too are familiar with terms like “verbose” and
“Wall-o-text”. Some people gave me a hard time about it, but others expressed that they enjoyed my posts, so
I didn’t change a thing. Eventually, one of the moderators put a cap on the number of letters I could use. Then
I just made multiple posts on the same topic. =D No, actually I did cut down the size by sticking just to the
pertinent information, making my posts rather bland, but apparently it was necessary…“Thank you” for the promotion! =) Interesting the topic came to mind, not knowing I had received one. The way
you explained it makes perfect sense, and is the way most of the guilds I’m familiar with handle it. What I
look for in a player, is essentially what you mentioned… guild chat activity, group participation, character
progression, and a willingness to help others. Which also means, that’s the player I try to be. I’ve seen a
number of players be very helpful when they are new, that hit end game and forget all about the “fresh meat”,
that could really use their help. This is something that impressed me right away with this guild… Top
members who are so beyond “newb” status, had absolutely “no” problem answering questions, and grouping with
someone new to game and showing them the ropes. When that’s “just the way you are”… you don’t recognize this
quality in yourself. It seems “normal” to you, like everyone is like that, and they should be… but take it
from someone who has been the new face in a number of guilds, to “truly” be accepted can be a lot of work.I won’t bore anyone with my opinion of the phrase… “it’s only a game”, other than to say, I’ve seen some
heated discussions that started with that little statement. And that “answers may vary”. ^_~in reply to: Warm Welcome! #7407Heya,
About promotion:to clear this subject, as in our case it might be a bit different then in other guilds …
The Rank structure is basically explained here: IJO – rank structure & basic rules with the observation that in the mean time, the 7 and 8 ranks were united in “Junior Member” rank.
The way promotions works are like this: Every rank above “Junior Member” have promotion rights, so that it can and is encouraged to grant promotions to those that they feel they deserve. The criteria being, how they blend in, their interest in group activity, their involvement and presence in the guild chat, guild activities and on the forum. Also, as everyone have invite rights, that the one that did the invite is expected to watch over the one they invited and, at least give them the first promotion. Also, another thing to mention, please when you invite put a note either in officer note or in member note with who invited them in the guild and when.
As a single general rule is that the first promotion to not be given before at least a weekend would pass since they joined.
The rest is pretty much explained in the post i’ve quoted above.
And since you asked about it, you must know that about half hour before you posted this, you were promoted to “General” 🙂 Congratulations!
As for sending you a 5-10 pages about that, well …. don’t tempt me 🙂 You might actually receive that 🙂 Ask Plasma, he can tell you more about my long posts 🙂
It is a real pleasure for me to see how wonderful people recently joined us 🙂 If you have any questions and concerns please don’t hesitate to ask 🙂
Oh, and another thing I just remembered … someone also asked about how the guild bank should be used … well … the rights are set, if you have the right to use something and you need it, then use it 🙂
All the best,
Kara (Amy)in reply to: IJO – Promotions #7406LoL … As a Jedi General, yes!
Good luck! 🙂in reply to: IJO – Promotions #7405I get to build an army? very bad decision
