-I.D.I.C- MYTHOS PROLOGUE, Excerpt.
They watched as the planet burned. Its crust heaved, pulled and shook. There was no sound from orbit, just the ominous scene on the view screen, the red flash of the Alert lights. It all seemed to go still for a moment, then the explosion rocked the system. The shock-wave tore apart the hull plating, ‘Engines Full Reverse!‘ The Exec gave the order. The helmsman scrambled to his duty, the navigator anticipating the next order began plotting the escape course. ‘Helmsman, belay that order’ shrieked the Captain. ‘All power to shields’, terror crossed the young navigators face, sweat poured from his brow. ‘Engineering, activate the metaphasic shielding’, a deep groan echoed throughout the ship, the mechanism was active, the shock-wave seemed to pass through the vessel and the structural integrity held.
Straightening his jacket the Captain took his seat, ‘Sickbay report’ he exclaimed.. a beep and a hiss from the comm system, ’23 dead, 17 wounded Captain’ ‘Keep me advised Doctor’, the Captain turns his attention to the science station ‘Planetary Status?’, a pause, ‘the entire planetary surface has broken apart sir, 12 billion inhabitants all gone… all gone… dead… they..’ ‘Understood!’, The Captain’s curt remark bringing the officer back to her duty. ‘Warning, Metaphasic shielding at 83 per cent, 15 minutes to primary shield failure’ the ships computer exclaims in a calm voice. ‘We have to work quickly’, the Captain gives his orders, ‘scan for survivors Commander, Engineering, I want warp power as soon as we clear the debris field. Helm, Plot a course out of here, and be ready to engage on my mark. Tactical, full scan, by the time our shields run out I want to know, who, how and where, understood. Lets get to work’. The crew snaps to the captains commands, all too aware that if the shielding breaks down at their depth in the field they’ll join the planets inhabitants in a fraction of a second.
Computer: ‘Warning, Metaphasic shielding at 32 per cent, 2 minutes to primary shield failure’. ‘Finish up people’ the Exec demands, ‘all stations brace yourselves, … all sections have reported in Captain’, ‘very well number one’, Computer: ‘Warning, Metaphasic shielding at 7 per cent, 30 seconds to primary shield failure’, A beep from the comm system, ‘Bridge, Engineering here, shields are failing’. ‘Helm … Engage’. A shudder in the deck plating, a sudden flash and the moving star field heralds their escape.
‘Let me not then die ingloriously and without a struggle, but let me first do some great thing that shall be told among men hereafter.”
In 2011 I was introduced to Plas through a gaming colleague in Star Trek Online. I was very excited that we were both Aussie’s & the true ANZAC qualities of endurance, courage, ingenuity, good humor and ‘mate ship’ are the foundation of our friendship.
Plas invited me to join his Federation guild -I.D.I.C- and this is where the true spirit of adventure began. We have been team mates in many games such as, Star Trek Online, Star Wars, The Old Republic, Champions Online, DC Universe Online & Second Life.
-Plasma’s leadership skills are outstanding, along side his gaming abilities & the planning & organization of our Guild Alliaance website.
He is always willing to support his fellow team mates & go above and beyond all duties. I would like to commend Plas on all his achievements & ongoing efforts in each guild- it has not gone unnoticed & we are blessed to have you 🙂

The Guild Alliance: Hall of Heroes is proud to induct -Plasma.
Ingrid T’par
Guild Alliance Committee
As with all our Hall of Heroes inductees we asked -Plasma to answer a few questions for us.
Q. What is your main gamer tag?A. My main tag for around 15 years or so has been –Plasma, originally Plasmacoolant. Plasmacoolant is my original Microsoft Hotmail account name and the basis for Xbox Live accounts as well, so the name has endured for some 15+ years.
I try to give at least one character in every game I play that name or a variation.
Some examples are: ‘Plasma Man’ in DC Universe Online, IJO-Plasma in Star Wars, The Old Republic, –Plasma in Star Trek Online and perhaps the oldest incarnation ‘Plasmacoolant’ (XBOX Live account) in Destiny.
Q. What’s your country and hometown?
A. My name is Jim, I was born in Sydney, Australia and have lived most of my life in Adelaide, Australia.
I am of Greek lineage and am as passionate about Greece as I am Australia.
Q. How and when did you become involved with the Guild Alliance or one of its Guilds/Organizations?
A. Prior to the conception of the Guild Alliance, but integral as it’s foundation, was the creation of the -I.D.I.C- Fleet in Star Trek Online. Through this fleet we met the people and created the bonds that would later make the G.A. Possible.
I began to start thinking about the creation of the Guild Alliance when several members of the –I.D.I.C- Fleet began to branch out into other games together.
Obviously people were playing other games and MMORPG’s, however I started to see games being taken up as a group, not as individuals. The first instance of this was with DC Universe Online, which several of our members started to play. This involvement brought about the creation of our second guild, the League of the Dawn Star Order.

Mentat displays noteworthy anti-parkinsonian commotion online levitra by boosting the dopamine post-synaptic receptor activity.
By this time the promotional material for Star Wars, The Old Republic was also making the rounds of the internet and the creation of a guild in a 3rd game Infinite Sith Empire.
It was around this time that I brought forth the idea of a super-guild to run and oversee the very different games we were now becoming involved with.
Q. When did you start gaming and what got you playing games?
A. The first gaming experience I can remember was when I was around 6 years old on a Nintendo LCD hand-held game. A visiting relative bought me the game a s a present and it cost $50 in 1984, so it was an expensive piece of hardware for the time.
From there I remember playing a variety of games on my relatives cassette programmable Commodore 64.
My first PC was an X86 machine with a 10mb hard drive. Thanks to Microsoft’s DOS6 they introduced drive compression and I was able to get 20mb out of the system running Windows 3.1. During this time I played many games including: Indy500, Lemmings & Lakers Vs Celtics.
Around this time the first Nintendo Gameboy was released and I played several games on here as well including: Solar Striker, Tetris, Super Mario Land and Batman. The great feature of the Gameboy was the link cable and I was able to play 2 player Tetris with my best friend.
Over the years I have also played on several consoles, mostly on other people’s machines, Sega Mega drive, Nintendo 64, etc.
The first console I bought was the re-release slim PlayStation 1. I proceeded to mod that console and had over 100 games. Some favorites were the Tomb Raider series of games, Medieval, Xena Warrior Princess and Crash Bandicoot series.
Since that time I have also owned several PC’s and have played several games, however this time in my gaming life is where I discovered ICQ and Microsoft Messenger and my gaming world changed from single player to multi. It began with Quake-engine games, most notably, Star Trek: Elite Force 1 & 2 and then to Star Wars: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy. These games are where -Plasma was born and forged.
After this time I was heavily involved with the Star Wars, Jedi Knight and Jedi Academy Modding community.
Q. What was the first game(s) you ever remember playing?
A. The first game I can remember was Mario Cement Factory, a Nintendo handheld 2-screen LCD game.
Q. I know that people play games for a variety of reasons, why do you play video games?
A. In my youth I would game to pass the time. In my late teens and early twenties it was more of a social experience with the use of ICQ and Messenger.
Why do I game now, well this is a complex question. I think for both the reasons above and to keep myself occupied during some very hard life events.
Q. Can you name me a few RPG’s that you’ve played these past few years?
A. Star Trek Online, Star Wars, The Old Republic , DC Universe Online, Champions Online, Dungeons and Dragons: Neverwinter and Destiny.
Q. Among those that you’ve stated, which is your favorite and why?
A. My favorite would be Star Trek Online. The reason for this is that for around 2 year period the guild there was an amazing place to hang out and team with.
Q. Any suggestions on how to improve Star Trek Online’s game-play?
A. Less cost for in-game tasks, such as crafting and fleet holdings. The Inclusion of a guild-allies system, which they are finally adding.
I would also have created the story missions in the style of the Star Wars, The Old Republic.
Q. If you were to create your own MMORPG or RPG, what elements would you put in?
A. I would have a high definition character design system.
Q. How familiar are you with RPG’s and gamer culture in general?
A. I am very familiar with gaming culture as I have always been a person interested in new technologies. I try to keep up to date with what is going on around me. I have a Degree in Multimedia as well so I feel I have to be at the cutting edge of new technology as much as possible. I also enjoy going out to pop-culture conventions and the gaming aspects of those.
Q. What has been your best experience role-playing?
A. Would have to be in Star Trek Online, teaming with the fleet members.
Q. What is one thing every game needs to be good?
A. For MMORPG’s, Social systems and story.
Q. What’s one thing every game needs to be bad?
A. Lack of up to date graphics options and if it is Avatar based, a lack of quality character customization.
Q. What game have you most anticipated playing?
A. I would have to say that I have always highly anticipated the Halo series of games.
Q. What is your favorite all-time game (rpg or non-rpg)?
A. I can’t decide….. probably for nostalgic reasons, Star Wars: Jedi Knight II, Jedi Outcast.
Q. What would you say is your highest gaming accomplishment?
A. I think the creation of the Guild Alliance would have to be the one gaming related accomplishment that I’m most proud of. In terms of in-game accomplishments, perhaps my Datacron Master reputation in SWTOR.
Q. Does gaming help you with personal relationships?
A. I think it does as I have met some very nice people through gaming. Having said that I think it can be a limiting social experience as well for some and can lead to greater disconnect from the real world. One needs to find the balance between the online and the offline.
Q. What’s your best gaming story or anecdote?
A. I’m not sure, there have been many over the years.
Q. If you could become one of your Characters (Any Game) who would it be and why?
A. I would be –Plasma, the leader of the –I.D.I.C- Fleet. Because he was a great leader, a hero that you could look to, but was also approachable.
Q. What’s your advice for new gamers?
A. Game as much as you like, but don’t make it your whole world.
If you are playing an MMORPG, don’t play multiple unless you have a lot of time on your hands.
Q. What are your passions besides gaming?
A. Some of my passions are Science, Graphic Design, Politics, and Religion. I am a very big Star Trek and Star Wars Fan.
I collect 12 inch and 18 inch figure of various pop culture icons. I also collect Vinyl records. I am a massive Prince fan and have an extremely large collection of his music.
I am a computer geek and like to be on the cutting edge of technology as much as I can afford.
I am very passionate about my family and friends and would do anything for anyone that asks.
