“Years ago, whilst answering a distress call from the U.S.S. Phlox, then on a cultural preservation mission to the Rator System, I chanced upon Alanna T’par. Several Federation starships had responded to the emergency and were mobilizing on the surface. The mission was to safeguard a Federation archaeological team who had been studying the ruins of an ancient temple from a Romulan and Reman attack force. The fighting was intense, the stakes were high, but the day was won. I made it my business to get to know that young officer and it has been my privilege to serve along side her”
Of course this is all role-play. What can be said about the real person?
I’ve rarely found someone that was willing to become a RL friend in my years of gaming, that is what Ingrid has become. As a gamer she has been a formidable Duelist and team mate in Star Trek Online and Star Wars The Old Republic. She has joined myself and other guild mates in several other games as well.
As a member of the -I.D.I.C- fleet (Star Trek Online STO), Ingrid held several command positions over the course of time, most notably the position of Fleet Ambassador. In addition she was instrumental in the creation of the =INTER-FLEET= Alliance, multi-guild teaming alliance, and was the Chief of that organization.
When the Guild Alliance Committee (GAC) was contemplating adding a new sitting member, Ingrid was chosen as the best candidate and additionally when the GAC decided to add a new Star Wars, The Old Republic (SWTOR) guild to the organization, Ingrid was the first one to be considered. In SWTOR Ingrid was the founder of our Infinite Jedi Order (IJO) Republic Guild.
In late 2014 Ingrid resigned from the Guild Alliance Committee, and has since downscaled her involvement with the Guild Alliance, but happily she is still a member of our guilds in a member capacity.
So without further ado…..
The Guild Alliance: Hall of Heroes is proud to induct Ingrid T’par.
Jim Manavis (-Plasma)
Chairman of the Guild Alliance Committee
As with all our Hall of Heroes inductees we asked Ingrid to answer a few questions for us.
Q. What is your main gamer tag?
A. My main gamer tags are Ingrid or Alanna in Star Trek Online and P’andra in Star Wars, The Old Republic.
Q. What’s your country and hometown?
A. I live in Sydney, Australia.
I do need to let you know a few ‘truths’ and rumors that are going around.
We do not have koalas and kangaroos down the main street of Sydney or any other major city, and we do not fry shrimp on the bbq, it is called ‘Prawns’ lol… Plus English is our first language, yeh we may have funny phrases like “Crikeys” “You Little Beauty” (although the second phrase I haven’t heard in years).
Q. How and when did you become involved with the Guild Alliance or one of its Guilds/Organizations?
A. I was looking for an active Star Trek Online guild potentially in my time-zone and was introduced to -Plasma and Londi. I was invited into -I.D.I.C- and a few of my friends were interested in joining also. A few years went by and I was offered the role to become the Fleet Ambassador. This was an honor and I enjoyed this duty immensely.
Q. When did you start gaming and what got you playing games?
A. I started gaming when I was a young kid. A friend introduced me to PC gaming and taught me how to game the old fashioned way.
Q. What was the first game(s) you ever remember playing?
A. Commander Keen, Lemmings, Ducktails, Prince of Persia, Pac man.
Q. I know that people play games for a variety of reasons, why do you play video games?
A. I enjoy teaming and having fun.
Q. Can you name me a few RPG’s that you’ve played these past few years?
A. I am not into role playing, however I have enjoyed playing my sniper agent ‘P’andra’ on Star Wars, The Old Republic. I imagine her as a Russian agent, strong, fierce, at the same time stands for justice, but not always.
Q. Among those that you’ve stated, which is your favorite and why?
A. Star Trek Online. I enjoyed my half Human/Vulcan character Alanna, she has the closest personality to myself and in all areas was a fighter, diplomat and strived for peace.

It discount generic levitra is not advisable to buy cheaper alternatives. Q. Any suggestions on how to improve the Star Trek Online game-play?
A. If I discussed the improvements on Star Trek Online, I might be here for a while. Plus I have been out of this game for at least a year. For this question I will focus on Star Wars, The Old Republic. I really enjoy this game and all the new content and different story lines connected with each class. A major suggestion would be to improve the space missions, I find these to be very weak and at times impossible to complete. It would be great to incorporate space mission elements within the story line.
Q. If you were to create your own MMORPG or RPG, what elements would you put in?
A. If you are going to role play, you need to have a good selection of costumes and character design. If this is not sorted, this can affect the role playing aspect. Plus who doesn’t like to design the ultimate, hero/villain looking character 😉
Q. How familiar are you with RPG’s and gamer culture in general?
A. I have met very interesting and bizarre people who enjoy role playing. While this can be an entertaining aspect for many gamers, I have also observed the obsession that role playing can have on one’s personal life. I even read in an article that someone was role playing in an MMO and took it literally, they started to act like their character in real life, it deeply impacted them and as a consequence they took their own life.
Q. What has been your best experience role-playing?
A. Please refer to the questions above 🙂
Q. What is one thing every game needs to be good?
A. Strong story line. Excellent character customization. New content every two months. More focus on customer service. Less grinding. Consistency.
Oppsy….I answered a ‘tad’ more than one.
Q. What’s one thing every game needs to be bad?
A. We have all experienced this. We are in the middle of an important mission and all of a sudden they tell us we have 10 minutes until servers are down for maintenance. Ahh the joys of it all!!
Q. What game have you most anticipated playing?
A. Any game that is sci-fi orientated and has awesome character design
Q. What would you say is your highest gaming accomplishment?
A. I enjoy a challenge and our PvP events in Star Trek Online were the greatest. In particular going against my good friend -Plasma, I liked to win and still do when we have the opportunity (sorry -Plas); however -Plas learnt my tricks and was able to use this for his advantage.
Q. Does gaming help you with personal relationships?
A. No not really. I find gaming the exact opposite as you don’t have to look at a person when you are speaking to them and you can leave whenever you want too. I would much rather personal relationships and to get to know a person for who they are.
Q. What’s your best gaming story or anecdote?
A. This is not really a story; it is more a memorable recollection. The best times in gaming was the fun events that our guild members created in Star Trek Online, I felt proud to be a part of a group that came together from all different parts of the world. The other aspect was teaming with my good friend CatStar, the enjoyment of exploring strange new worlds and completing the Breen series over and over again were always interesting and never dull. I still enjoy this opportunity and it was great to have Dante, -Plas and Makhorkin join the team. Our motto is ‘All for one and one for all.”
Q. If you could become one of your Characters (Any Game) who would it be and why?
A. None, however I wouldn’t mind having the martial arts skills that all my characters have, and plus they don’t even have to work out and they look healthy and fit all the time.
Q. What’s your advice for new gamers?
A. “Balance, Balance, Balance…!” This is the key. It is important that gaming does not take us away from our real life or the important people in our lives. I remember when I first started to play Star Trek Online, I would game for 5-10 hours each day. This was affecting my mentality and personal life, and since then I have had to reconsider and adjust my gaming time, I am much happier and when I do game, I look forward to it.
Q. What are your passions besides gaming?
A. I love to spend quality time with family and friends and to simply ‘hangout’. I enjoy listening and teaching music, watching cooking documentaries, watching sci-fi/fantasy shows, travelling and checking out gourmet food places. Above all, I love to spend time with the Lord and talking about his love and grace.
Q. Do you have anything you would like to add?
A. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me when I was in -I.D.I.C-, there are so many I could acknowledge and honor today. I will finish with this final thought,
“Your story may not have such a happy beginning, but that doesn’t make you who you are. It is the rest of your story, who you choose to be”
